Welcome to the LANIER BASKETBALL LEAGUEMission StatementThe purpose of the Lanier Gwinnett Basketball League (GBL) Basketball Program is to provide the children of the Lanier School Cluster who participate in Laniers GBL basketball Program a quality instructional athletic program that promotes teamwork, builds self-esteem, and increases skill knowledge in a safe, non-threatening environment. PhilosophyOur philosophy is to ensure that the players of the Lanier GBL Basketball Program are adequately prepared to compete at a competitive level against other GBL school cluster teams and to develop the players ability to enable the player to adequately contribute to and be a valuable asset to Laniers 8th Grade and High School Basketball program in the future. GoalsOur primary goal is to inspire, encourage, and motivate the players to excellence by helping the players optimize their talents while maximizing their potential through practice, skills and drills exercises, repetition, and team work. One of our goals is to ensure a competitive environment within our program so that the program adequately competes with other GBL school cluster basketball programs and to ensure the players will be adequately prepared to meet the challenges of playing on Laniers 8th Grade and High School basketball teams. Additionally, we want to ensure that the players are striving for excellence in the classroom as well

WHY Lanier GBL

Why Gwinnett Basketball League (GBL)

The mission and purpose of the Gwinnett Basketball League (hereinafter referred to as the GBL) is to develop a highly competitive youth basketball program designed specifically to enhance the skills of the most serious minded basketball players. The GBL exists to develop teams with players from the same Gwinnett Public School Clusters, thus developing a program of feeder systems for the High Schools in Gwinnett County. A major emphasis is to provide the opportunity for the youth to have fun and enjoy basketball while learning proper sports skills and techniques in an atmosphere where good sportsmanship, ethics and competitiveness are stressed.
The Lanier Longhorns GBL program is a feeder program and gets your child ready to play competitively at the 8th Grade and High School level. The 2011-12 Lanier School Clusters GBL Program will have boys and girls teams for the 5th, 6th, and 7th Grades. The season starts in November 2011 and the tryouts will be in September 2011. However, dont wait until then to get involved. The Lanier Longhorns plan to have a camp/clinic soon. Also, we would like to keep in touch with you during the spring and summer. If your child is in the Lanier School Cluster and has interest in playing basketball for the Lanier Longhorns GBL program and will be a rising 5th, 6th, or 7th grader for the 2011-12 school sessions, we need your contact information. The Lanier Longhorns GBL program includes Sugar Hill Elementary, Sycamore Elementary School, White Oak Elementary School, and Lanier Middle School.
